If you want to add custom design elements or functionality to your Squarespace website, one of the easiest ways is to buy a plugin.
Plugins for Squarespace are different than Wordpress plugins. You can’t just install them with a click. They usually involve adding CSS, Javascript, or HTML code to your website. That’s why clear instructions and excellent customer support are so important.
This list includes 10 of the best places to find free and premium Squarespace plugins. I’ve chosen these particular sources based on their reputation in the Squarespace community and my own personal experience. I’ve also taken into account plugin design, functionality, and ease of installation.

SQSP Themes*
If you’ve been hanging out in the Squarespace community long enough, you’ve probably heard of Omari Harebin. He’s the founder of SQSP Themes, one of the best places to find top-notch plugins for Squarespace.
Most of Omari’s plugins are compatible with Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1 but check the product description to be sure. Installation difficulty is easy to moderate with clear instructions and excellent support. Prices range from $15 to $50 for a standard plugin license (use on one site) and $36 to $120 for a business license (use on unlimited sites).

Squarestylist*
Squarestylist offers incredibly unique, design-forward plugins for Squarespace. Plugins are delivered in a mini-course format, with detailed instructions and video tutorials that show you how to achieve the style and functionality you’re going for.
Most Squarestylist plugins are compatible with Squarespace 7.1 but check the product description to be sure. Installation difficulty is moderate to advanced but each plugin comes with a free 30-minute one-on-one consultation if you need extra help. Plugin prices range from free to $167. All plugins come with a license that allows you to use them on an unlimited number of websites.

SquareWebsites*
SquareWebsites is a popular destination for Squarespace designers because it offers advanced tools that make building websites so much easier. SquareWebsites also has a lot to offer to DIYers, with features that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
Some of the plugins available on SquareWebsites are not compatible with Squarespace 7.1, so ask before you buy. Installation difficulty is moderate to advanced. If you need help with installation, you can hire Michael, the developer, for a very reasonable fee. Plugin prices range from $10 to $65.

Ghost Plugins*
Ghost Plugins hosts the largest repository of free plugins for Squarespace. (The current count is 284, not including the “secret plugins” you can gain access to if you subscribe to their email list!) All of these plugins are of the highest quality and some of them were created by other developers on this list!
More than 200 of the plugins offered by Ghost are compatible with Squarespace 7.1 and you can filter them for easy browsing. Installation difficulty is easy to moderate with easy-to-follow instructions and excellent email support.

Devon Stank
Devon Stank is a Squarespace Developer with a growing library of some of the most elegantly designed Squarespace plugins I’ve ever seen. Seriously, they’re gorgeous.
Some of Devon’s plugins are not yet compatible with Squarespace 7.1, so ask before you buy. Installation difficulty is easy to moderate with excellent customer support. Plugin prices range from free to $75 for a personal license and up to $190 for a business license.

SQS Mods offers a number of cool and unique plugins that will help you take your Squarespace website to the next level.
SQS Mods plugins are fully compatible with Squarespace 7.1 templates. Prices range from free to $40.

PixelHaze*
PixelHaze offers a selection of unique and useful Squarespace plugins that can help you enhance the functionality and style of your website.
PixelHaze plugins are compatible with Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1 templates. Installation difficulty varies but PixelHaze helpfully provides difficulty ratings on a scale of 1-3, so you know exactly what you’re getting into. Plugins are extremely affordable and prices range from $6 to $15.

Squaremuse*
Squaremuse offers some of the most stunning plugins for Squarespace available online. Squaremuse recently modified all of their plugins to make them easier to install, so no developer mode required!
Squaremuse plugins are compatible with Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1 templates. Check the product description to make sure you’re getting the right version. Installation difficulty is easy to advanced. Prices range from $19 to $79.

Beatriz Caraballo*
Beatriz is one of my favorite Squarespace CSS gurus. She also sells premium plugins for Squarespace.
B’s plugins are compatible with Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1. Installation difficulty is easy to moderate. Prices range from $25 to $67.

Nick Scola
Nick Scola is a Squarespace developer offering a small selection of well-designed plugins. Each plugin comes with detailed installation instructions and unlimited support.
It’s unclear whether or not Nick’s plugins are compatible with Squarespace 7.1, so ask before you buy. Installation difficulty is easy to moderate. Prices range from $20 to $25.

Rebecca Grace Designs
Rebecca Grace is a Squarespace developer with a modest selection of unique plugins, including a number of different image sliders—perfect for photographers who sell lightroom presents!
Some of the plugins are compatible with 7.1 templates and some are only compatible with 7.0 templates.
